Geographic Range [top]
Range Description: This species is found in tropical America along both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts and in western Africa. However, the limits of its distribution are not well known. In the Caribbean, it is found from southern Florida to Rio de Janiero. In the eastern Pacific, it is found from southern Mexico to northern Ecuador. Along the western African coast, it is found from Guinea to Angola.

Habitat and Ecology: This species is a fern and grows in the under canopy. It is found in intermediate upstream and high intertidal areas (Tomlinson 1986).

Major Threat(s): There are no known threats to this species. It is often confused with A. aureum which is a threat to other mangrove systems, and in disturbed mangrove systems this species can take over and is difficult to eradicate.

More research is needed on this species distribution, population status, habitat requirements and threats, as it is not-well known and is often confused with A. aureum.
