Habitat and Ecology: Found in main rivers and tributaries up to submontane streams and lowland swamps, lateral movement to marshlands in flooding time (black movement strategy; Rainboth 1996).

Use and Trade: Locally consumed in its range as small foodfish mixed with other common species, seasonally abundant and preserved as fermented or smoked in the Tonle Sap Lake and Thailand.

Major Threat(s): Overfishing and wetland degradation are the general main threats to this fish. Rachmatika et al. (2005) found a decline in populations in Kalimantan pre- and post- logging.
