Habitat and Ecology [top]
Habitat and Ecology: This perennial climbing shrub is found in lowland forests.
Systems: Terrestrial
Threats [top]
Major Threat(s): This species has the general threats associated with expanding human populations. Lowland forests within its range are, for example, subject to clearance for agriculture, plantations, timber extraction and infrastructure developments. In Singapore, for example, where the availability of natural habitat has been reduced, largely by urban developments, this species is now considered vulnerable (Chong et al 2009).
Conservation Actions [top]
Conservation Actions: There are no specific conservation measures in place for this widespread species. It may, however, benefit from existing protected areas, for example, it is listed as species of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore (Dominy 2002). Further research is recommended, to monitor the population and trends, and the habitat status, as this species occurs in lowland forests, which are often a threatened habitat within its range. It was not found in available lists of seed banked or botanic garden species.
