Range Description: Known from the Irrawaddy River drainage in the Lake Indawgyi/Kamaing area in Myanmar and in the Lokchao area (Chindwin River system) in Manipur, India (Vishwanath et al. 2007).

Population [top]
Population: Occasional collecting for the ornamental fish trade in Myanmar is projected not to adversely affect population size and it is considered stable at the present moment (H.H. Ng pers. comm.). The species is fished only as a bycatch in Manipur and is not sought after either as an ornamental or food species (W. Vishwanath pers. comm.).

Habitat and Ecology: This species inhabits, streams, rivers and shallower areas (i.e. along the shores) of lakes, typically in areas where the water is clear and the substrate sandy/rocky (H.H. Ng and W. Vishwanath pers. comm.).
