Citation Description Geographic Range [top] Range Description: The subspecies F. s. speciosa is known from much of eastern and southern Thailand (provinces of Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mahasarakam, Roi Ett, Nakon Panom, Ubon, Buriram, Surin, Sri Saket, Chantaburi, Prachinburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phattalung, Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat), Lao PDR, Cambodia and northern Viet Nam. F. s. polygramma is known from central and southern Thailand and Yangon and southern Myanmar. F. s. peninsularis is known from a few localities in southern Thailand (Brandt 1974, Sri-aroon et al. 2007), Malaysia and Singapore (Tan and Woo 2010). Most records from Malaysia refer to other species (Brandt 1974), however the species is present in Peninsular Malaysia and Indonesia (Sumatra; type locality). Further work is required to confirm the identity of specimens from throughout its range. Several cercariae of unidentified trematodes have been obtained in this species and it serves as an important intermediate host for representatives of the trematode family, as it is generally infected with metacercariae of Echinostomatidae.
