Range Description: Fimbristylis salbundia is distributed in Bangladesh, China (Yunnan), Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Myanmar (Cook 1996). In India it is known to occur in Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu (Kanyakumari- Mahendrgiri slope and Dindigul) (BSI Coimbatore) and Kerala (Agasthiya mala peak) (Mohan and Srinivasan 2002).
Fimbristylis salbundia subspecies pentaptera is endemic to Sri Lanka and southern India, subspecies salbundia is only at Meghalaya.
