Range Description: Fuirena pubescens has a tropical and subtropical distribution, occurring in a few Mediterranean countries, possibly as an alien (The Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew 2010), throughout Africa, both north and south of the Sahara, the Indian Ocean islands, from the Middle East east through the Caucasus and much of the Indian Subcontinent east to China, Japan, Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, Thailand, Viet Nam, Java, the Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea, Australia and many of the Pacific Ocean Islands.
In India it is known to occur in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhay Pradesh (Tiwari and Maheshwari 1964), Maharasthra (Buldhana) (Lakshminarasimhan 1996), Punjab and Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore and Dindigul) (Extending to Himalayas and Western Ghats). It is endemic to southern western ghats and Palani hills (Ahmedullah and Nayar 1987, Bhargavan 1989, Cook 1996).
In the Arabian Peninsula occurs in Wadi Ahjar (al Ahjar) in Yemen (Wood 1997, Al Khulaidi in prep.), and in Saudi Arabia, where it has been recorded from Asir; Tannumah and 12 km south of An-Nimas on the Taif-Abha road (Chaudhary 2001).
In the Mediterranean region, it is present in Portugal, Spain, Corsica, Crete, Italy, Sardinia, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Morocco, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.
