Habitat and Ecology: This species has been found on sand, coral, green mud, hard bottoms with corals, rocks, soft bottoms though it is said to prefer a hard coralligenous substrate. It has been found at a depth range of 12 to 57 m. Observations of habitat preferences are still based on limited samples (Holthuis 2002).
