Range Description: Hemarthria compressa is distributed in warm and tropical Asia, Australia and North Africa. In India it is known to occur in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh (Roy 2001), Maharasthra (Lakshminarasimhan 1996) Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh (Cook 1996, Naskar 1990) and Andhra Pradesh (Pullaiah 1997, Reddy 2002).

Use and Trade: This plant ashes are used on cuts (Vardhana 2008). It is used as fodder in Australia and Africa (Datta & Banerjee 1978). Luteoforol is a chemical compound belonging to the flavan-4ol class of flavonoids. Flavone-C glycosides also present in the plant leaves (Jeffery et al. 1974).
