Habitat and Ecology [top]
Habitat and Ecology: This shrub, or small tree, is found in forests, scrub and waste places. It is often planted along roadsides and is also found in coconut plantations.

Use and Trade [top]
Use and Trade: The leaves of this species contain HCN-glued, valued for chemical products and harmful as a toxin (Rezia Khatun 2009). Formerly planted as a cover and green manure crop in teak plantations in Jawa and sometimes planted as an ornamental in Sri Lanka (Hanelt 2001).

Major Threat(s): This species suffers only the general threats of habitat loss associated with expanding human populations.
Conservation Actions [top]
Conservation Actions: No specific conservation measures are in place for this species. It may benefit from protected areas within its range, for example, it is listed as a species of the Cat Tien National Park in Vietnam. It was not found in available lists of botanic garden species but was recorded as a sample in the seed herbarium of the Groninger Institute of Archaeology in 2005.
