Range Description: This species is distributed only in northeastern Viet Nam. Ha Nam and Ninh Binh provinces are the most important sites for this species.

Population [top]
Population: This species is not common and there is very little information on its population. Populations are observed to be decreasing through the survey work conducted (Do pers. obs. 2011). A decline of 50% of the populations is inferred for the last 10 years.

Habitat and Ecology: This species inhabits streams and rivers in mountain valleys.

As in case of many other mussels, this species too is used as a ready food source for local people, poultry, livestock and fish. These mussels are sometime seen in the markets.
