In Manipur (Irrawaddy drainage), India, Thailand (Chao Phraya, Mekong and Meklong basins). The species is also reported (FishBase 2009) from Bangladesh (Brahmaputra), and China. The records from the Indian Brahmaputra are doubtful because the species is closely related to L. guntea and identification can be confused.
