| Citation | Description | Asia: Pakistan, northern India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and Thailand. Known from the Salween basin (Ref. 12041).
Geographic Range [top]
Range Description: The species is recorded from northern India (the Brahmaputra and Ganges drainage), Bangladesh and Nepal (Havird and Page 2010). Currently the species is recorded throughout Peninsular India except some parts of southern Western Ghats. Populations in peninsular India are believed to be introduced due to linking of Krishna River to other southern drainages (Rema Devi pers. comm.) and aquarium trade (Marcus Knight 2010)
