Geographic Range [top]
Range Description: The species occurs from Pakistan east through India to southern China (Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, southern Yunnan) and south through Indochina to Malaysia and Indonesia (Cook 1996, Hong et al. 1998, Kress et al. 2003, Nguyen et al. 2005, Newman et al. 2007). It was considered to be extinct in Bangladesh (Ahmed et al. 2009), however Rahman (2006) reported the species from Sylhet.

Habitat and Ecology [top]
Habitat and Ecology: The species grows on marshy or seasonally inundated ground on clay soils, in the open or in thickets. 400-1,200 m alt. Fields, scrub on sunny mountain slopes, forest edges, along streams (eFloras 2011).

Major Threat(s): Extinction in Bangladesh is attributed to direct habitat destruction (Ahmed et al. 2009), thought the causes are not known.

Conservation Actions: Proposed intensive field survey should be undertaken to find the species, if found efforts should be made to bulk up seeds using in-situ and ex-situ methods in Bangladesh (Ahmed et al. 2009).
