Geographic Range [top]
Range Description: This species has been recorded from India (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh (Namdapha – Changlang district), Myanmar (= Burma), Lao PDR, Viet Nam, and China (Xizang, Yunnan) (Zhao and Adler 1993, Orlov et al. 2003, Ziegler et al. 2007). It has been recorded from south Viet Nam from Danang, Quang Nam, Soklang and Gia Lai provinces, and collected in the northwest at Nam Xe Commune, Van Ban district, Lao Cai province (Orlov et al. 2003, Nguyen et al. 2009). It ranges from 300 to 1,900m asl.

Habitat and Ecology: This is largely a diurnal snake associated with montane forests. It is oviparous. The diet consists mainly of small vertebrates.

Use and Trade: This species is found in small numbers in the pet trade. In China it is not collected for the pet trade.

Major Threat(s): This species is threatened in parts of its range by limited deforestation (logging, conversion of land to crops etc.).

Conservation Actions: Protection of additional forests within its range, and efforts to limit deforestation, are recommended as general conservation measures, and will benefit this species. In Yunnan and Xizang, China, it is present in some protected areas.
