Range Description: This snake has been recorded from Chinas Yunnan Province, and from Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam (Nguyen et al. 2009). In Viet Nam it has been recorded from Lao Cai and Son La Provinces (Orlov et al. 2000; Nguyen et al. 2009). The type locality is Kutkai, North Shan State, Myanmar but this record has never been confirmed. It has been found between 1,829 and 2,377 m asl. (Das 2010).

Habitat and Ecology: Das (2010) describes this species as occurring in montane forests. It is an egg-laying species that exhibits mixed diurnal and nocturnal activity. It feeds on mainly amphibians and sometimes fishes.
