Range Description: Megarasbora elanga has an South Asia distribution. It is know from inland waters in India, Bangladesh and Myanmar (Rahman 1989, Talwar and Jhingran 1991). It was also reported from Nepal (Shrestha 1990) and Pakistan (Mirza 2003).

The species is known from Arunachal Pradesh (West Kameng District), Assam, Bihar, Hooghly River system in West Bengal, India; Bangladesh; and western Myanmar.
