Geographic Range [top]
Range Description: The species occurs from India east to China, Japan and the Korean Peninsula and south through Indochina and Peninsular Malaysia to Indonesia. Ahmed et al. (2009) reported the species as extinct in Bangladesh, however Rahman (2006) records the species from Chittagong and Dhaka.

The species grows in marshy ground, wet low-lying areas, the margins of ponds and in rice fields. It forms mats of vegetation in seasonally inundated areas and marshy banks of streams and ponds. 500-1,400 m alt.
