Use and Trade [top]
Use and Trade: The whole plant is depurative, febrifuge and styptic. Leaves, root and seed are used as a condiment but some precaution is advised as it belongs to a genus that contains many poisonous taxa (Plants for a Future 2010). It is collected from wild populations, but sometimes it is planted on a small scale. They are usually harvested for domestic use. In recent years, more and more tourists from cities are interested in wild vegetables and its exploitation is increasing. The plant is sometimes available in rural restaurants (Wang and Zhang 2006).
The plant is used raw or cooked as a vegetable with rice (Hedge and Lamond 1992).
