Habitat and Ecology [top]
Habitat and Ecology: The species is found in rivers and lakes. It is a local migrant.

Use and Trade [top]
Use and Trade: It is commercially used as food from captive breeding in Manipur. In Myanmar it is also used but from the wild.
Threats [top]
Major Threat(s): The extinction of this species in Manipur was due to construction of dams, habitat degradation and introduction invasive species which caused fragmentation. Threats to this species in Myanmar are unknown.
Conservation Actions [top]
Conservation Actions: More research about the distribution and the biology of this species is needed, as there is insufficient information available. The effects on the population of collecting for the ornamental fish trade also need to be fully ascertained. Other potential threats to this species also need to be identified in Myanmar. Surveys in Manipur are recommended.
