JUSTIFICATION
Although this species is not common, it is has a very wide distribution and localized impacts from habitat loss and degradation consequently arent considered major threats. The species is therefore listed as Least Concern.
RANGE DESCRIPTION
This snake has been recorded from China (Hainan, Guizhou and Yunnan); Myanmar (where the type locality, Mogok, is found); eastern Thailand; Lao PDR, Viet Nam and northeastern Cambodia. It is widespread in Viet Nam except the far south, and records exist for the provinces of Lao Cai, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Kon Tum, Lam Dong and Dong Nai (Orlov et al. 2000, Nguyen et al. 2009).
DESCRIPTION
No population data are available, although it is not a very common species.
HABITAT AND ECOLOGY
This is an egg-laying snake with mixed diurnal and nocturnal activity. It is arboreal in montane forests near streams, where it feeds on slugs. It can be found from 600 to 1,500 meters of altitude.
THREATS
Habitat loss through deforestation may threaten this species in parts of its range. Human pressures on forest within this species wide distribution are varied and include industrial-scale logging, slash-and-burn agriculture and smallholder farming, road-building and urban development. However, none of these can be considered major threats to this species at present, as it has a wide range and these processes are localized.
USE AND TRADE
There are no reports of this species being utilized.

No species-specific conservation measures are in place, although it has been recorded from protected areas. |
