Range Description: This species is known from East Africa, specifically from the Red Sea to Mozambique, including northern Madagascar, Comoros and Socotra (Holthuis 1991). It is also found in the South China Sea, from Taiwan to the Philippines and Indonesia (Holthuis 1991). Other places where this species is known include Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Viet Nam and China (Holthuis 1991). This species can be found off northern Queensland, Australia and Tamil Nadu, India (Holthuis 1991).

Habitat and Ecology: This species is found between 20 and 60 metres, although occasionally at 100 to 200 metres (Holthuis 1991). It perfers mud or sand substrates, that can contain coral, shell grit or rubble (Holthuis 1991).
