Systems: Freshwater Continuing decline in area, extent and/or quality of habitat: Yes Use and Trade [top] Use and Trade: No information is available on use and trade of this species. Threats [top] Major Threat(s): Inlé Lake is threatened from several factors contributing to loss of water area and degradation in water quality due to floating cultivation, tourism, pollution from agricultural runoff, sewage disposal, gold and silver processing, and sedimentation due to aquaculture (Sidle et al. 2007). The effects of these habitat-related threats is inferred to have a major impact on the species. The lake has reduced from 69 km2 to 46.7 km2 in the last 75 years (Sidle et al. 2007). The water area of the lake is less than 50 km2. Conservation Actions [top] Conservation Actions: Research into distribution, population trends and the biology of this species is needed, as there is insufficient information available.
