Population: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be fairly common (Lambert and Woodcock 1996).
Trend Justification: This species is not reliant on primary forest, is fairly tolerant of habitat alteration and survives well in secondary habitats. However it is commonly caught for the cagebird trade and is hunted locally in Thailand (del Hoyo et al. 2003).
