Citation Description Geographic Range [top] Range Description: This species is endemic to Luzon Island, Philippines (Musser and Carleton 2005). The holotype collected in 1956 was from Saccobia River, Clark Air Base, central Luzon (Heaney et al. 2014) at around 100-200 m (L. Heaney pers. comm.). Further specimens were collected between 2011-2012 near to the holotype location, demonstrating the species continued survival after the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo (Heaney et al. 2014). It is possibly more widespread in the lowlands of the Zambales Mountains (Heaney et al. 2016). The species has been recorded between 365-1,080m asl, the species may exist at higher elevations, however, these have not been sampled (Heaney et al. 2016). Countries occurrence: Native: Philippines Additional data: ? Lower elevation limit (metres): 365 ? Upper elevation limit (metres): 1080 Range Map: Click here to open the map viewer and explore range. Population [top] Population: The species was the most abundant one found during surveys of Mount Pinatubo (Heaney et al. 2016). Current Population Trend: Unknown Additional data: ? Population severely fragmented: No Habitat and Ecology [top] Habitat and Ecology: The holotype was from lowland secondary forest (L. Heaney pers. comm.) and the species appears to be highly tolerant of disturbance, being found in very sparse regenerating vegetation (Heaney et al. 2016). They are nocturnal, omnivorous, and appear to not climb very high off the ground (Heaney et al. 2016). Systems: Terrestrial Threats [top] Major Threat(s): The threats to this species are not known. The area of the type locality was impacted by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo (L. Heaney pers. comm.), however the species was found between 2011-2012 showing its continued existence (Heaney et al. 2014). Conservation Actions [top] Conservation Actions: The species exist in a protected area, because Pinatubo has recently been declared a protected area (L. Heaney pers. comm. 2016).
