Population: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as locally numerous throughout most of its range except for Afghanistan, where it is little known (del Hoyo et al. 2006). National population sizes have been estimated at c.10,000-100,000 breeding pairs in China and c.100-10,000 breeding pairs in Taiwan (Brazil 2009).
