Range Description:
Pycreus sanguinolentus is distributed in Old World tropics to subtropics.
In India, it is widely spread in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Megalaya, Kashmir, Bihar, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Orissa, Punjab, Rajastan, Goa, Gujarat and Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Cook 1996). It is found at an altitude of 250 to 1,650 m in the Western Ghats.
In the Arabian Peninsula this species is rare in Yemen, where it occurs in the wadi above Aduf near Turbah (At Turbah), Wadi Dabab (Adhabab), Taiz, Hajarah, Haraz and a few kilometres east of Rujum (Wood 1997) and in Saudi Arabia in Asir and Tannumah (Chaudhary 2001), up to an altitude of 2,500 m asl.
