Range Description: This species is recorded from Myanmar, northern Lao PDR, northern Viet Nam, Thailand and southeast China. It is also reported from northeast India (Kumar and Sane 2003), but no specimens, or listing in the Floras, were found, and its presence there remains uncertain.

Habitat and Ecology: This climbing shrub or liana is found in forests on lower mountain slopes.

Threats [top]
Major Threat(s): The forest habitat of this species faces threats, mainly from conversion for agricultural purposes. For example the tropical seasonal rainforest in southern Yunnan decreased from a cover of 10.9% of the total area of the region in 1976 down to 3.6% in 2003, mainly due to rubber planting (Zhu 2008).

Conservation Actions: No specific conservation measures are in place for this species. It was not found in available lists of seed bank or botanic garden species. Further research is needed to establish its habitat status and threats to determine its conservation needs. Surveys are recommended to confirm its current geographical range and population status, as many herbarium specimen records are old. It is likely to benefit from the identification of new, and expansion of existing protected areas. It has been recorded in the Ba Vi area in Vietnam, and the Doi Inthanon area in Thailand, both of which have National Parks.
