Population [top]
Population: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be reasonably common (Feare et al. 1998), while national population estimates include: c.100-100,000 breeding pairs and c.50-10,000 individuals on migration in China; < c.1,000 individuals on migration in Japan and c.100-100,000 breeding pairs and c.50-10,000 individuals on migration in Russia (Brazil 2009).
Trend Justification: The population trend is difficult to determine because of uncertainty over the impacts of habitat modification on population sizes.
Current Population Trend: Unknown
Additional data:
? Number of mature individuals: Unknown ? Continuing decline of mature individuals: Unknown
? Extreme fluctuations: No ? Population severely fragmented: No
? Continuing decline in subpopulations: Unknown
? Extreme fluctuations in subpopulations: No ? All individuals in one subpopulation: No
