Description JUSTIFICATION This species is listed as Least Concern as it is locally abundant, but geographically highly restricted to only a few islands. This species is doing well in converted areas, and there are no current threats to its montane habitat. The impacts of hunting are not known, but probably not very high. RANGE DESCRIPTION This species is endemic to the Philippines, where it is restricted to the Palawan faunal region. It is only found on Balabac, Bancalan, Matangule, and southern Palawan islands (Heaney et al. 1998, Esselstyn et al. 2004). DESCRIPTION It is locally common, and considered a garden and crop pest (Heaney et al. 1998, L. Heaney pers. comm.). HABITAT AND ECOLOGY It occurs in primary and secondary forest, as well as in more disturbed areas such as tree plantations, coconut groves, banana plantations, and gardens (Heaney et al. 1998, L.
