Citation Description Geographic Range [top] Range Description: This species occurs in Myanmar, Thailand, Lao PDR, and Viet Nam south of 14ºN, southward to Sumatra and Borneo (Smith 1943, David and Vogel 1996). The record from Myanmar is from the western part of the country, and this snakes presence has not been confirmed elsewhere in Myanmar. Countries occurrence: Native: Brunei Darussalam; Cambodia; Indonesia (Kalimantan, Sumatera); Malaysia; Myanmar; Singapore; Thailand; Viet Nam Additional data: ? Its is rare in Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand. Current Population Trend: Unknown Additional data: ? Population severely fragmented: No Habitat and Ecology [top] Habitat and Ecology: This fossorial and nocturnal species occurs in lowland and hilly areas in forest, plantations, and wet cultivated areas (David and Vogel 1996). Stuart and Emmett (2006) reported a specimen from Cambodia that they obtained at night, which was active on the surface of hard soil in grassland with open pine forest at 700 m elevation. The maximum known elevation for this snake is 1,400 m asl. Systems: Terrestrial Use and Trade [top] Use and Trade: There are no reports of this species being utilized. Threats [top] Major Threat(s): There are no apparent threats to this species. Conservation Actions [top] Conservation Actions: This snake is found in several protected areas across its range, including Khao Luang National Park in Thailand.
