Range Description: Acisoma panorpoides is very widespread in Asia - until recently species from Madagascar and Africa were considered A. panorpoides as well, but proved to be several distinct species of their own.

Population: This is a moderately common species across much of its range. Although populations might be declining in the most developed countries where the species occurs, due to loss of habitat, in less developed countries populations might actually be increasing, since clearance of forest will be creating more suitable habitat for the species.

Habitat and Ecology: This species occurs at a variety of freshwater habitats, including at well vegetated ponds, ditches, slow open sections of streams. It has been recorded at habitats within Oil Palm plantations.

Major Threat(s): Although populations in some countries may be threatened by urban and commercial development, this widespread and disturbance tolerant species is certainly not threatened across its entire range.
