Citation Description known only from type; Kuala Pilah, NS Discussion This species was confused by Ridley with C. caesius but the specimen bears flagellate leaf sheaths and so cannot be this last species. C. moorhousei has been searched for recently in the Kuala Pilah area but with no success. In doing so another new species of Calamus related to C. insignis (C. senalingensis) somewhat similar to C. moorhousei in appearance was found. (J. Malayan Forest Recirds 29.. 1979) Description Moderate ? clustered rattan; stem without sheaths to 5 mm in diameter, with sheaths to 1.1 cm; internodes to 20 cm long. Sheaths dull brownish green armed with scattered short erect spines to 3 mm long. Ocrea short, inconspicuous. Knee well developed flagellum present (length unknown). Leaf ? ecirrate to at least 1 m long, with petiole to 25 cm long very sparsely armed with short lateral spines. Leaflets at least 8 or each side of the rachis borne in opposite pairs, to 30 cm distant; largest leaflet to 30 cm long by 3.5 cm wide, gradually tapering at each end; armed with short bristles along margins and on upper surface of main vein near the tip. Only female inflorescence known, and this incomplete. Partial inflorescence to 50 cm long bearing 7 distant rachillae to 7 cm long on each side of the axis. Fruit unknown. (J.
