Current Population Trend: Unknown Additional data: ? Continuing decline of mature individuals: Unknown ? Extreme fluctuations: Unknown ? Population severely fragmented: Unknown Habitat and Ecology [top] Habitat and Ecology: Found in larger tributaries of the Mekong. Reports of seasonal variation in populations suggest that the species is migratory. Spawns at the beginning of the rainy season and utilizes the flooded forests along the river edge (Rainboth 1996). Feeds on small fishes, benthic invertebrates (Rainboth 1996), and large amounts of plant detritus (Rainboth 1996, Baird et al.1999). Clear preference for deep water pools in dry season. (Baran et al. 2005). Systems: Freshwater Movement patterns: Full Migrant Use and Trade [top] Use and Trade: This species is used as a food fish in artisanal fisheries; juveniles have been sporadically collected as ornamental fishes. Threats [top] Major Threat(s): The threats to this species are unknown, since there is no information on the biology of this species and therefore the impact of potential threats (especially those of an anthropogenic nature) remains unknown. The current threats to aquatic biodiversity in all of its known distribution have also not been adequately identified. Conservation Actions [top] Conservation Actions: There is insufficient information on the distribution, biology and potential threats for this species. Catch data for this species are also needed.
