Citation Description Indo-West Pacific: east coast of India, Bangladesh (Ref. 1479), Myanmar, Malay Archipelago (Ref. 4833), and China (Ref. 33837). Geographic Range [top] Range Description: The species has an Indo-West Pacific distribution. It is known from the east coast of India (Kapoor et al. 2002), the coastal waters of Bangladesh (Rahman 1989), Myanmar (Talwar and Jhingran 1991), Thailand (Monkolprasit et al. 1997), southeastern China (Li and Wang 1995) and the Malay Archipelago. It should be looked for in suitable habitat in Cambodia and Viet Nam. It has also been recorded from the South China Sea (Randall and Lim 2000). Current Population Trend: Unknown Additional data: ?Population severely fragmented: No Habitat and Ecology [top] Habitat and Ecology: The species occurs in estuaries and tidal rivers (Talwar and Jhingran 1991) and upstream in the mainstreams of freshwater rivers (Rahman 1989). In the Hooghly estuary (West Bengal) the species is taken in small quantities only (Talwar and Jhingran 1991). A specialist aquarium fish.
