Citation Description Geographic Range [top] Range Description: This species was described from the Kaek River catchment (a third-order tributary of the Nan River in the Chao Praya drainage; Phitsanulok Province, north-central Thailand; Brandt 1974) and was found in the middle course of the river between the Sakunothayan Falls (33 km east of Phitsanulok) and the Thung Salaeng Luang National Park (90 km east of Phitsanulok). It is also recorded from the Kwae Noi River (Chattrakan National Park; F. Köhler pers. comm. 2010), a catchment about 50 km north of the other sites on the Kaek River. This species seems to prefer waters with a swift current and is found in a section between 5 cm above and 20 cm below the water surface. This species, like the other species within this genus, occurs in rivers and mountain creeks. It is is only rarely in still water.
