Range Description: This species has a revised distribution compared to earlier literature and is now thought to be restricted to central Thailand in Chiang Mai, Phrae, Phayao, Sukothai, Lampang, Uttaradith, and Kamphaeng Phet provinces (P. Sri-aroon and F. Köhler pers. comm. 2011).

Although its range has been much reduced by the recent taxonomic revision (Köhler and Glaubrecht 2006), it is not believed to be threatened over the entire range, but may be locally threatened by deforestation causing sedimentation, impoundment of water by dams and pollution from domestic and agricultural sources.
