Leaves compound, 5 leaflets; terminal leaflet lanceolate, 5–8 × 2–3 cm, decreased to the basal lateral leaflets, apex acuminate, base cuneate, margin serrate to serrulate, lateral veins 3–5 pairs; petiole 4–7 cm; stipule triangular, about 2.5 mm long, brown. Inflorescence compound umbel on leafless branches, peduncle 2–3 cm long. Flowers unisexual; female flowers small, about 1 mm wide when open; ovary greenish yellow; stigma 4 lobes, creamy white; pedicel 2 mm. Fruits berry, subglobose, 1.2–1.5 cm in diam., pale red. Habitat and ecology Open edge of upper mountain evergreen forest by the roadside in front of Ang Ka Nature Trail. Flowering March–June; fruiting July–November. Geographic distribution India, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Thailand.
