JUSTIFICATION
The Vietnam Leaf-ted Gecko has been assessed as Least Concern on the basis that this species is widespread and no major threats have been identified, although further research is required to clarify its true range limits.
RANGE DESCRIPTION
This species is present in northern Vietnam (Nguyen et al. 2009, Das 2010), where it is known from the provinces of Bac Kan, Ninh Binh (Cuc Phuong), Thanh Hoa (Ben En), Nghe An (Pu Huong) (Nguyen et al. 2009) and Ha Nam Ninh (Das 2010). It is possibly also present in southern China, northeastern India, Laos and Cambodia (Darevsky et al. 1984, Nguyen et al. 2009, Das 2010), although there are presently no records from these countries (B. Stuart pers. comm. 2017). The distribution is not well understood (S. Nguyen pers. comm. 2017).
DESCRIPTION
The population status and trends are not well understood, but it is suspected to be locally common (K. Milto pers. comm. 2017).
HABITAT AND ECOLOGY
This nocturnal and saxicolous species inhabits forest edges in lowlands, where it has been found on large tree trunks and man-made structures such as walls of stone buildings (Darevsky et al. 1984, Das 2010). This species is parthenogenic (Darevsky et al. 1984).
THREATS
There are no known threats to this species.
USE AND TRADE
There is no information on any use of or trade in this species.
CONSERVATION ACTIONS
It is present in Cuc Phuong National Park (Darevsky et al. 1984). Its distribution may overlap with other protected areas. Further research is needed to clarify this species population status and distribution (K. Milto pers. comm. 2017). |
