Leaves simple, opposite, oblong, lanceolate to elliptic, (4–)10–18 × (1.5–)2.5–7 cm, thinly coriaceous, glabrous on both surfaces, usually with glands below, tuft domatia often present in nerve axils, base cuneate, apex acute to shortly acuminate, margin entire or remotely serrate; petioles 0.8–3 cm long. Inflorescence terminal, umbellate corymbs, flat-topped, 5–7-rayed; peduncles 1.5–5 cm long. Flowers 5-merous, white; calyx lobes deltoid to scarcely developing; corolla tubular to urceolate, 3–5 mm long; filaments 6–7 mm long, white; anthers 1.5 mm long, pink. Fruits drupe, ovoid, slightly compressed, 3.5–6 × 2–4 mm, black, glabrous. Habitat and ecology Edges of mixed and hill evergreen forests, 1,000–2,300 m elevation.
