This is largely as a result of pressures from expanding human populations, with conversion for agricultural purposes and logging and also infrastructure developments. For example, it is now reported as extinct in Singapore. This species was also previously recorded from Johor and Penang, and extensive collections, since 2006, for the Flora of Peninsular Malaysia Project, have not encountered this species (Chung 2011). Conservation Actions [top] Conservation Actions: No specific conservation measures are in place for this species. Further surveys are required to to establish its current georaphical distribution and population status. Further research is needed in relation to the specific habitat status and threats, to assist in the determination of its current conservation needs. It was not found in available lists of seed bank or botanic garden species species Citation: Chadburn, H. 2012. Caesalpinia tortuosa.
